How to Build a Go Cart
Before getting started on building your go cart, figure out what you want it to look like and become familiar or find someone who is familiar with the materials and equipment you will be using. A very helpful tool in building your go cart is obtaining a go cart plan.
These plans include specifications, dimensions, materials, and procedures for building different kinds of go carts. You can find these on online sites such as gokartplans.com or through forums. Sometimes, you can find someone that will e-mail you a go cart plan if you let them know what kind of go cart plan you’re looking for. It really won’t do you any good to get some plans if the end result won’t be the kind of go cart you want.
If you intend to race your go cart, also consider the tracks that you’re interested in attending. Every track has rules for the kinds of go carts you can race. Make sure that before you buy parts and decide on a certain kind of go cart, your goals match what the tracks allow.
If this is your first go cart, buying used parts can be beneficial because it allows you to customize your go carts based on your needs (not to mention that it is less expensive).
